4/21/20 - The Home Stretch

DEMIURGE will be released in 4 days and there isn't much left to do!  The animation and music are both 99% done and I only have a few tiny changes to make before I can call it done.

Since I have not had as much work to do on the film I have been spending some time making a countdown on my Instagram page @panfil.ben.  Some days I just post a looping animation with the number of days left and some asset from the film, but I have also spent a lot of time making a poster and album cover for the musical score.  I've never been this active on Instagram before and it's interesting to see all the insights on posts and learn how things change when you post every day vs every week or two weeks.  I don't have a huge following or anything so it's more of just an experiment than expecting large amounts of attention.  I realize that the number of people who are anxiously awaiting my film is very small, and it will be interesting to see how many people watch it on the first day after I've hyped it up so much.  Then there's probably a larger group of people that are aware that my film exists but aren't really marking their calendars or anything, so I would expect them to watch it within the first week or two when they get the chance.  Hopefully some people will share it and it will reach a few more viewers.  After that...who knows?  Hopefully people will continue to watch it on YouTube and new people will find it over time.  If it gets into festivals that will really help to get some more eyes on it.  I don't know really what to expect as far as a view count or people's reaction, but I will definitely be observing and learning for how I can do better to reach people for future projects.

Throughout my time at Bradley I have seen three years of senior's make their films and graduate, and it always seemed like a great end to their college experience, but now that I'm in their place I've noticed that it feels much more like a start to the rest of my career than an end to college.  No matter what happens with this film I have learned so much that I will take with me into the future.
