11/7/19 - Done Is Better Than Perfect

Currently I am just making progress on the Creator's head and hands, along with planning out a production schedule and starting to time everything out to music.  Since I am composing my own music I have just figured out the tempo, how long it will be, and where it will be good to line up certain scenes.  I have experience making music videos so I am thinking of this film in a similar way.  Even though my music might technically not have verses and choruses I have still arranged my scenes in to line up as if there were.  It has given me good insight into the feelings I want to convey with the music in each part.

I met with Matt Forcum to talk about how my film was going and he gave me a great suggestion to cut out the synthetic fruit.  This will really cut down on the beginning, which is the part I have struggled with the most.  I also think the natural fruit will be something other than a fruit, just because the beginning of my story is so similar to the Christian myth of the Garden of Eden and I want to differentiate from that.  Matt pointed out how interesting it is that my film juxtaposes a deity and evolution as competing forces, and I want to hone in on that a bit more.  I will replace the natural fruit with a more abstract object representing the bond between the animal and the planet.

The beginning of the animatic is basically stick people at this point since I have changed it a bunch, but as long as I know what shots to make I'll be fine.  I don't plan on working on it any longer just because it will never be perfect and I should lock it down and focus on the animation.  I haven't been spending too much time on it, and I am not behind schedule, but it is time to start organizing the different assets into all the shots, and for that I need the shots to be finalized.  I plan on locking them down today or tomorrow and am already making great progress on assets!  This was sort of in between milestones so I will have more exciting progress soon!
